2016 AWARD FINALISTS

The British Street Food Festival will be the ultimate expression of what we do. The very best traders from all across the UK, gathered together in one place for your finger lickin’ pleasure. They will compete for YOUR vote — with live music, beer buckets, food quizzes, fire pits and #vibes unbounded.

After one massive road trip, tracking down the best street food in the four regional heats for the 2016 British Street Food Awards, the public will finally get to try it all – and vote for their winner. And this year we will be parking up at the Digbeth Dining Club – who have won our Best Street Food Event award twice in the last three years. They know what they’re doing. This weekend will be the stuff of legend.

Food? Yes. But this is a proper Festival. So we’re brewing up the world’s first street food craft beer – which matches everything from tofu to tacos. A labour of love, with UBrew, we’ve worked exclusively with BSFA alumni. Plus we’ve got LeftFoot DJs, JamJah Sound, Dead Pixels retro gaming and street art. And seminars on the future of food. The British Street Food Festival 2016 promises to be a bit special.

The finest traders in Britain (and beyond) have been cooking up a storm to win the Awards since 2010, but this year has been the best ever. We’ve set up shop in some of the country’s most perfect ‘found’ places – including Leeds Dock, an oyster festival in County Down and Blackheath Common. Digbeth’s Rainbow Arena, with its iconic railway arches, will take it to a new level.

We will release our full list of finalists after our last heat, in Belfast on September 3. Plus we’ll add in a few wild cards. The public will be able to buy sharing plates from each of them, and then vote for their favourites. Nice. The public’s winner will then be announced on Sunday September 18, once their votes are counted, but a distinguished panel (including Michelin-starred chef Simon Hulstone and the Telegraph’s food writer Xanthe Clay) will decide on the judges’ favourites live on stage. You do not want to miss this.

SATURDAY September 17 11-8pm

Today is all about the party. Your chance to eat taster plates from the best street food traders in Britain. All day. They will be after your votes, so expect 1.deliciousness and 2.underhand tactics. We’ve seen it all….PLUS sets from Digbeth Dining Club’s finest DJs, street art, gaming from Dead Pixels – and special guests live on stage. Its not just about the adults having fun though. We also have Beyond Radical Events providing entertainment for the kids with face painting, craft making and more on the day! Who doesn't love a Photo Booth as well?
